Is Google doing fine?

Google may be going through its worst right now! Though it has still a majority stake in the search market, there are a number of developments in the Web world that may be giving it jitters. The way the world searches is changing drastically, the netizens are starting to move on from the 'Link search' to 'Information search' which is provided by net players like WolframAlpha. A recent google press release stated that it sees Facebook as a competitor in the search market with its ability to provide search results to users that are more accurate and 'personalized'. Twitter is another major player in the upcoming 'personalized search' market. The attempts of Google in China to provide music download results in its search results page is testimony to its inability to penetrate the chinese market dominated by the Chinese counterpart of Google, Baidu.
Google remains the 3rd biggest in the personal email sector and the launch of the new features for Gmail (more on this in a later post!) have not created a major buzz in the online communities till now. The frequent Gmail outbursts are already a matter of concern for all its stake holders.
Google is, however, expanding faster than before. It is trying to take stakes even in the Venture Capital market with its subsidiary company (a for-profit organization unlike its initial attempts at angel investing!). With its last quarter results showing the hit it took from recession, Google may have to rethink in a lot of departments!
